Rules Changes:
Shields:
- Banned: the weapon-type "Madu" (A madu is a shield+boffer combination-weapon, commonly seen at Amtgard games). All mention of this weapon-type has been removed from the rules. (Note: If someone brings a gigantic anime sword: we reserve the right to designate it as being able to be destroyed-by-bazookas)
- Added an official definition of "Shield-legal Pistol" to the rules (which can be found at the end of the Shield section).
- Note 1: We recognize that some blasters, which have been usable in the past, are no longer usable with a shield (Barricade, because it is electric; PowerShot 40, because it has 40 rounds; Deuce Pro because it has removable cylinders; just to name a few) for the sake of clarity and consistency, there will be no exceptions to this standardization.
- Note 2: Blasters which have been physically modified to comply with the rules will be allowed (for example: modding a Deuce Pro so the ammo feed system isn't removable; or modding a magstrike so that the magazine cannot be removed).
- Homemade Shields Must Have Foam Edges - Stricter Enforcement: at past events: the extant rule requiring homemade shields to have a foam edge has not always been enforced. In the future: this requirement will be strictly enforced. All homemade 'Large' shields must have foam edges.
- Added this rule to Homemade Shield section: "Constructed Shields must not contain sharp points or edges."
Bazookas:
- Reverted Bazooka-destruction-rules back to how they were in v3 and earlier. In v4.0: they could apply the item destruction game-mechanic to anything they hit (i.e. blasters and melee weapons, too). Now: they once-again only destroy shields.
- Removed "Mega Rockets" from the list of allowable Bazookas.
- Added "must have fins" to the projectile description for Bazookas.
- Reverted Foam Large-ball Launchers: they are not Bazookas. At our most recent May 2023 game: we had trialed a large foam stress-ball launcher as a Bazooka - this has been reverted. All large-ball launchers are Medium once more.
- Also added an example-image of a Stress Ball to Medium Projectiles section.
Projectiles:
- Title Changes: Before: the 3x category-names were {Normal; Heavy; Bazooka}. Now: the 3x category-names are {Light; Medium; Bazooka}
- Renamed the standard-size darts from "Normal Projectiles" to "Light Projectiles".
- Renamed "Heavy Projectiles" to "Medium Projectiles"
- Clarification: Added image of MegaXL darts, to the Medium section.
Non-Negotiable Section
- Banned: lasers and laser pointers
- "We Are Not Childcare" section: changed "parent or guardian" to "parent or Legal guardian".
- Please see RCW 13.36.020(2) for the legal definition of "Legal Guardian".
Roadmap:
Future planned changes for version 4.2:
- Bayonet section: add a visual guide with more explicit construction requirements (This is a work in progress).
- Gunblade section: add a visual guide with more explicit construction requirements (This is a work in progress).
- Boffer section: add a construction guide (This is a work in progress).
